Nutrition Rainbow

Here's one way to think about a healthy diet, ask yourself do you get all the colors of the rainbow in one day?

Red: strawberries, red bell peppers, pink grapefruit. tomatoes, watermelon, beets, radishes
Orange: oranges, cantaloupe, carrots, apricots, mango
Yellow: yellow squash, bananas, onions, peaches, millet
Green: broccoli, zucchini, spinach, green beans, chard, lima beans
Blue: blueberries, blue corn
Indigo: eggplant, blackberries, plumes, prunes, black beans
Violet: grapes, kale, purple potatoes, purple basil

just a couple examples, I'm sure you can think of more.

PS. one of my new favorite shortcuts to meal planning, is the Kashi frozen meals. . . $3-4, tasty and nutritious!

Postpartum Doula Update

This is little squeeze is Aedan! Aedan's family hired me as their postpartum doula this Fall. For the first 3 weeks of Aedan's life, I came over to his house 5 days a week to help take care of his mother. I gave her a massage, cooked her lunch and dinner, and healthy snacks for her to munch on during the late night and crack of dawn feedings. Everyday I came to the house, Aedan was a little bigger and stronger. I can't wait to check back in on him now that he's almost 5 months old! His Mom and Dad are so in love with him. So am I!
