Nimba - Purifying Soap

Kama Ayurveda makes a wonderful $8 purifying soap ideal of sensitive and difficult pitta skin types. This handmade vegetable soap is loaded with Neem (bark powder) which is well know for its anti-fungal and anti-bacteria properties. I find the soap to be astringent and prevents the midday oil buildup.

Compliment your simple routine with a dab of Kama's Miraculous Beauty Fluid. The saffron extracts give a subtle glow to every skin tone, a perfect alternative to a bronzer or rub on tan.

kicharee recipe

In ayurvedic cuisine, Kitcharee is a one dish meal that is light, easy to digest and assimilate. Eating kitcharee is a comfort food while detoxifying. Perfect for a spring cleanse.

3 Tbs Ghee (clarified butter)
1-2 tsp cumin seeds
1-2 tsp coriander pods
1-2 tsp fennel
2-4 tbs grated fresh ginger
1/4 c split yellow lentils (yellow dahl)
1/4 Basmati Rice
Celtic sea salt

You should be able to find everything you need at Whole Foods, otherwise, take your grocery list to the Indian Grocery on 28th @ Valmont, they'll be happy to help you shop.

Rinse and soak your lentils the night before you prepare the kitcharee. Heat the ghee with the spices and ginger, about 30 seconds. Stir in lentils and add 4 cups of water. Add basmati rice. Bring to a boil and cook uncovered. Kitcharee should be a a soup like consistency. Will take about 45 mins to cook.

This is the bare bones version for those of you cleansing. Feel free to add vegetables and your favorite spices to jazz it up. I like tossing in frozen peas, corn, carrots, broccoli. Fresh is always better, but. . . this recipe makes about 4-5 servings. Each day you dig in, throw more water, ghee and veggies to spruce it up.
